Skip Tracing & Locate Investigations

 

What is skip tracing?

Skip tracing is the practice of tracking down an individual who has seemingly skipped town, often to avoid paying a debt of some kind. 

 

What is a locate investigation?

A locate investigation can be conducted on an individual or company whose whereabouts is not known to the party requesting the locate investigation.   The individual being located may be missing, evading or hiding.  Or the individual's whereabouts may simply be unknown. 

 

Why conduct a skip trace or locate investigation?

Skip tracing and locate investigations can be conducted for a number of reasons.  The most common reasons to conduct a skip trace or locate investigation are as follows:

 

           *  To locate someone for court service.

           *  To locate someone who is avoiding a debt.

           *  To locate adopted or missing family members.

           *  To get in touch with friends or family that you have lost touch with over the years.

           *  To locate beneficiaries or heirs of an estate.

           *  To locate runaway or abducted children.
